Plot: Kid is an anonymous young man who ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash. I saw this movie in theaters a couple of nights ago, and I have mixed feelings about it. The story feels pretty familiar. It is about someone who has lost everything and goes on a revenge spree against those who wronged them. It is that classic “rise up fueled by anger” plot centered around violence and payback. The action scenes are intense, but they do not have the style or punch of something like John Wick.

The movie tries to bring in some political stuff, like nationalism and losing freedoms and rights. These themes are not super deep, but they add a bit of weight to the story, even if it feels a bit obvious. Overall, the plot is simple but goes on longer than it should. Still, the action is exciting and keeps you watching, even if the story is not that deep.
