After a decade away from the big screen, Cameron Diaz is back, reuniting with Jamie Foxx in Netflix’s action-comedy Back in Action. In the movie’s newly dropped trailer, Cameron and Jamie play ex-CIA spies who left the agency to start a family—only to get sucked back into their former life when their cover is blown.

The film marks Diaz’s first acting role since 2014’s Annie, which she also starred in with Foxx. Their chemistry is back in full force, with Jamie’s character joking, “Just like old times, baby,” as they team up for another high-stakes mission. The star-studded cast includes Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, and Glenn Close.

Foxx’s influence helped lure Diaz back to acting, as she revealed at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit in October. She couldn’t say no to Jamie’s offer, saying, "He said, 'Come with me.' And I was like, 'OK, let's do it.’”

Diaz, who retired in 2018 to focus on family life, shared how the break allowed her to prioritize herself and her family with husband Benji Madden. Now a mother of two, Cameron felt it was the right time to return. “My husband...he’s like, ‘It’s time for us to support you,’” she said.

Get ready for a comeback! Back in Action hits Netflix on January 17, 2025.

After watching the trailer for Back in Action, it seems like Cameron Diaz is trying to play a comedy-action role as there are no scenes that she's as serious in when compared to Jaime Foxx.

It still looks like a good movie to watch, and I definitely will after it's launched on Netflix. However, I wish they did a theatrical run before it hit streaming.

I have watched some good movies featuring Cameron Diaz but I have not watched her for a long time. Her last movie Annie was nice.

That's because she was in retirement, coming back for this film. But, she was a pretty good action star if you look back to the Kill Bill days.

She is also good at comedy too, but, I would've preferred her taking a more serious role in this movie than what's depicted in the trailer.
